Nokia N76 Limited Edition by Björn Weckström

Helsinki - Nokia today announced that they are working with noted Finnish artist Björn Weckström to offer a customized, limited edition Nokia N76 multimedia computer available only at the Helsinki Nokia Flagship store.

Inspired by natural forms made when the wind, together with the high tide broke up the ice along the Finnish sea shore; the miniature sculpture relief, hand-crafted by leading Finnish art jewelry house Lapponia Jewelry is permanently attached to the back of the Nokia N76. Other pieces will be sold as handset jewelry and can be attached to devices already purchased. The N76 Signature Edition by Björn Weckström has a special user interface inspired by his art.

Working with the physical limitations of the Nokia N76 made the work both inspiring and challenging.” said Mr. Weckström, adding “In my opinion it is fantastic that Nokia is the first handset manufacturer combining visual arts into an industrial design object.”

“The ways that Mr. Weckström was able to add to the already outstanding design of the product says a lot of his talent.” said Anssi Vanjoki, executive vice-president and general manager, Multimedia, Nokia. He continued, “We are delighted that we were able to collaborate with one of Finland’s most treasured artists on this project, and we are even more thrilled that we are able to display some of the more prominent pieces from Mr. Weckström’s collection that have not been displayed in 25 years in our Helsinki Flagship store. ”

The Nokia N76 multimedia computer blends style and substance to bring the complete Nokia Nseries experience to a sleeker body, with very little compromise.

Congratulations Nokia for “finally” waking up. It has been a long time since an interesting and argonomic design has been launched. Only shame is on this design, which many many people loved already years, it carried the brand name Motorola. Strikingly similar to their modle. But then again, who cares particularly since the Nokia technology and ease of operating the phone is far superior to that of Motorola. Just wish Nokia would look to hire some of the industrial desginers of Motorola.

in Nseries this mobile i.e. N76 and N 95 are the best mobilesever seen. but the cost factor is the problem. as it is too expensive as we sall know that how ever the cost of all mobiles depreciate so y have the cost of any new model be so high.
TRY IF THE COSTS CAN BE REDUCED MORE FURTHER(LESS)…..

on the N76, just i used for 10 days but the silver color of digits plate was gone , i have seen that the cover was painted only .
after short time using i lost the silver color brightness .
i m asking why the silver color plate dosen’t made by metal, to reduce cost? i brought it i paied expenseve for quality i think.

somehow, i find that this a good phone compared to others nokia phone.

i got mine 2 weeks ago, i’m getting scratches SO easily. And when i tot the scratch is dirt and use a little force to remove it, the steel dents in.

Buttons for the camera is a little tricky as well.

Speakers are soft despite the dynamic price and look of this phone

    Thumbnail are rather small too.

Backcover is so hard to remove

actually, there are too much to name them.

anyway, the design of this phone is similiar to motorola razer 2 that’s why i get it. Best flip phone for nokia, scores.

good enough, pls followed by low price.

I have purchased the N76 & do not recommend people to buy it. Within 1 month the micro card slot cover broke off & the silver finishing around the phone has started to come off leaving white patches.

I’m disapointed as it seems to be a very cheaply made phone. What is worse is that NokiaCare in Australia are instantly saying that I have damaged the phone with the way I use it.

    Not Happy!

my n76 is great except it shuts off unexpectantly aqnd Nokia will not honor their warranty, so I would not buy the phone unless they (nokia) upholds their warranty policy, which presently they do not uphold.

    Hi,
I would like very much to purchase this phone. I am a design teacher and a great fan of Bjorn Weckstrom. I know other people who would be very interested also. Is there any way this phone can be shipped? How much does it cost? will it be sold in the UK soon? Thank you, kind regards, Anne Wooldridge

  21. 21 Longing for that Nokia Quality

My Nokia phones from the 90’s have long since passd the test of time.. namely the Older Version of the E70. Of course, as the technology becomes better prices tend to climb. Although if you notice… finding a maybe bulkier, less flashy nokia phone with all the same amemnities will last you longer and be more fulfilling. The nokia’s user interface is friendlier than the average producer of cellulars, which makes it an even better buy if you can handle not being “trendy”. For thos of you who want a razr look alike… you’re wasting your time… go get a razr, you churlish clientel.
